It was worth the wait. Obama has rendered the years of Republican obstructionism moot. Their clever ploys of the faux filibuster and the bellicose bullying and the Bibi embarrassments have fallen flat, and while Republicans were patting themselves on the back for their midterm “sweep” of Congress, Obama was planting the seeds for a bumper crop of reforms. Now, in the months preceding the presidential primaries, Obama is reminding people what Democrats stand for.

Republicans, on the other hand, are reaping what they sowed, which is precisely nothing. They’ve doubled-down on the sneering hate-speech and the empty rhetoric that appeals to the slack-jawed, resulting in a three-ring-circus of Republican anti-candidates who must run on negative accomplishments. It’s all about what they closed down, eliminated, blocked, cancelled and squashed. The only thing they built up is the bank accounts of their like-minded multi-millionaire brethren. When Donald Trump is getting buzz, you know the hive is diseased.

Obama has paved the way for a Democratic victory. Nothing is guaranteed, but even a somewhat compromised Hillary Clinton, energized by a we’re-mad-as-hell-and-we’re-not-going-to-take-it-any-more message from Bernie Sanders, gives me reason to hope for change. Come to think of it, that’s what Obama promised all along. He just didn’t say when it would happen. Maybe it’s now.

Finally, a piece that describes exactly how I feel: Media OUTRAGE Over AIG! What a Crock! Thank you, M. J. Rosenberg! Here’s his piece in its entirety:

Did you see Jake Tapper of ABC getting getting all medieval on Robert Gibbs at the White House yesterday? When did the President first learn about the AIG bonuses? Would you give us a tick-tock on what he knew, how he knew, and what his reaction was?

And the newspapers are going nuts. Outrage is the #1 headline word of the day. And the pundits are wondering: is the bloom off the Obama rose?

I have two words for the MSM: shut the f— up.

For eight years, the Republicans gave unprecedented trillion dollar bonuses to the richest people in America. They took the Clinton boom and intentionally turned it to bust. On top of that, they lied us into a war that killed 4000+ Americans and maybe a million Iraqis.

Where was the MSM’s OUTRAGE then? Was David Gregory outraged when he boogied with Rove at the press dinner? Did any of his colleagues join Helen Thomas when she asked some really hard questions at the daily briefings? No. They laughed at her for taking it all so seriously.

But now they are GENUINELY outraged at a Democratic President who is trying to fix a mess that occured in part because they refused to challenge the big scarey Republicans. Chutzpah. They are so full of shit I’m going totally Lewis Black on you.

God, I hate the MSM. Obama should ignore them. Most Americans do.

Flying Shoes!

OK, here’s something that will be seen over and over and over again, as it is in this video! An Iraqi journalist flings a couple shoes at Bush in Baghdad. See it live, then live again, then again, on and on and on. We may have lost the war — although not admitted by Bush or our MSM — but we gained a couple of size-10 shoes.

Here’s something I never caught on the MSM this August during the Democratic National Convention: it’s Dan Rather blasting the MSM, caught by that great little alternative media, Link TV. Juan Cole included this today on his blog. Note the first three comments on Juan’s link. The first attacks Dan from the right, a fairly common MSM type attack. The third attacks him from the left: Chomsky has it all! The second comment I’d agree with. For almost 200 more comments, see the YouTube here. Juan says “If media consolidation is the problem then Anti-Trust actions would make more sense as a response”, rather than simply courage which Dan is advocating.

E. J. Dionne, Jr., of the Washington Post has it right! Obama has been tiptoeing through the mud. He needs to lash out and hurl both facts and mud back at those lying scum McCain and Palin! Here are a couple paragraphs from Dionne’s Op-Ed today:

Here’s the problem: Few voters know that Obama would cut the taxes of the vast majority of Americans by far more than McCain would. Few know Obama would guarantee everyone access to health care or that McCain’s health plan might endanger coverage many already have. Few know that Obama has a coherent program to create new jobs through public investment in roads, bridges, transit, and green technologies.

In short, few Americans know what (or whom) Obama is fighting for, because he isn’t really telling them. And few know that McCain’s economic plan is worse than President Bush’s. As Jonathan Cohn points out in the New Republic, McCain would add $8.5 trillion in new debt over the next 10 years. It’s McCain who should be on the defensive.

And here’s Dionne’s closing paragraph:

McCain has shown he wants the presidency so badly that he’s willing to say anything, true or false, to win power. Obama can win by fighting for what he believes. What he can’t do is wait for the media to call McCain out — although they should — or expect voters to know he’ll fight for them when they are not yet sure that he’s willing to stand up for himself.

And it’s going to be doubly hard for Obama to do this because of the gutless, corporate controlled MSM’s determination to present two sides of every issue even when one side is an obvious lie. GOBAMA GO !! You’ve gotta to do it to save this country from irresponsible and cocky wackos like McCain and Palin!!

Listen to how this MSM guy named Dan tries to make an issue out of General Clark’s remarks! It’s a theatre of the absurd! This MSM guy Dan won’t give up trying to extract a story out of this, trying to prove that General Clark attacked MSM darling John McCain’s war record. What lengths won’t the MSM go to to pitch Repuglican talking points! Absurd! I is pissed again. HAHAHA

As Juan Cole says, “Robert Greenwald presents McCain clips, entertainingly.”

Why not pass it along? The MSM won’t.

Here’s a wonderful article by Robin Morgan taking apart the hypocrisy of many in the MSM in regard to Hillary Clinton and women in general.

Stanley Fish, professor of law at Florida International University, in Miami, has another excellent Think Again column with the title All You Need Is Hate in the New York Times Opinion section today. Here’s his opening paragraph:

I have been thinking about writing this column for some time, but I have hesitated because of a fear that it would advance the agenda that is its target. That is the agenda of Hillary Clinton-hating.

He then references an article by Jason Horowitz in the January issue of GQ, The Hillary Haters, which finds that the hostile characterizations of Clinton do not add up to a coherent account of her hatefulness:

She is vilified for being a feminist and for not being one, for being an extreme leftist and for being a “warmongering hawk,” for being godless and for being “frighteningly fundamentalist,” for being the victim of her husband’s peccadilloes and for enabling them.

As he points out, this is not to say that there are no rational, well-considered reasons for opposing Clinton’s candidacy. But these attacks by the hardcore crazies are just beyond the pale. And yet, a lot of this gets into the mainstream media (MSM). Check out the article. It gave me pause about the state of our culture and what’s tolerated.
