Thanks for your comment, Danielle. I was over at your spot last night but was too tired to comment. I'll rectify later. Yes, that poem is a real fun one -- I had to google it up again before I could quote it exactly. But I imagine it would be a great exercise for your young sons keeping all the objects straight that the old lady swallows. WoW, she must get real big!

My three young sons and I often sing that little poem. I have spied your mug over at my spot and I am glad I ventured over here. Just from this post you earned the ol bookmark.

Be well and enjoy the day.

Until we read again.

Hey, you made it, Annette! Good work! Pretty derned good for a golden ager, although actually you're still a youngen in my view. You may be feeling old and feeble this AM but you managed to leave a comment. Shows you're still perkin' along. Way to go! Maybe Chris could help you check out an on-line dating service!

Hi Marde,
Let's see if I can get this to work. I am feeling old and feeble this AM. Could it be that I am now 70?

Barbara:
Oh yes, those dog ticks are terrible Yuck! Sounds like you had quite a few of them in Hawaii. The poor animals do suffer. What awful creatures those ticks are, you can't kill them, just flush them. "Ticks don't just bite; they suck!"

When we first moved here to this corner of Maine I picked up a dog tick that spring, and I didn't realize what it was at first until my face started swelling (Sorry for the rocky horror show!). I just thought I had something stuck in my hair until I pulled it out and saw it wriggling in the toilet bowl. YUCK! I had to go to the hospital and the doc gave me a regime of antibiotics. Maybe I'll post the picture of me then, if I can find it. It was the year 2000.

Great topic of conversation, huh?

Chris:
Guess what? I had to look up that word too. I knew in the back of my mind that it had to do with intervals, but wasn't sure. It took me a fair amount of time to construct those few sentences. I like the challenge of writing. Great you love words. Do you do crosswords? Cynthia does the two NYT puzzles every Sunday that are in the Telegram, but I don't do them. YES! We have to be grateful for every second of black-flyless time! I should get out again today but we have to go to the NED Annual Meeting and stay overnight at a HoJo's in Portland. I'll miss blogging and walking, altho maybe I'll take my laptop..... Hey, be careful with those on-line dating deals! But I'm sure you know how to take care of yourself. However, men are ..... I know; I'm one of them, even if a golden ager ready for the AGS (American Geriatrics Society).

Say, do you remember this old poem?

I know an old lady who swallowed a spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her
She swallowed the spider to catch the fly
But I don't know why she swallowed the fly
Perhaps she'll die!

ps. I made some changes to the blog yesterday. I can tell you how to get a picture shown, if you'd like, Chris.

"interregnum: the interval of time between...a sovereign's reign and ...a successor; a gap in continuity" (American Heritage).
Thanks for the new vocab. word, Mardy,I love words.
I am grateful every second of this black-flyless time...precious it is...and brief!
Hey, I've joined a dating on-line service! I'll keep your blog posted, it is sure to be interesting, if not entirely disasterous...

Hi Mardé,
Ticks !! That is so YUCK !!
I remember fighting against these blood suckers with our dogs in Hawaii.I will spare the details, but they can be hell for animals, too.
You are right to be so careful with them, being a vector of Lime's disease.

Take care,
