Thanks, Missy. Yes, it's frustrating not to be able to do anything about the horrors, or even conceive of them in fact.

Hi Barbara,
I can see that you, being an expat US citizen, might be concerned about the repercussions of too vociferous opposition. France certainly did the right thing not to back the war. Yes, horrible things happened and are continuing to happen on all sides.
Take care, Barbara.

Hi Mardé,
I think that you have a lot of courage to speak your opinion on this war.Myself being also a US citizen BUT an expat, I would fear to be somewhat "lynched ". France did not send troops in, unlike UK .
I hate war and I was not doing any flag waving when those guys rolled into Irak 4 years ago.Since then,I have seen some horrible things, for both sides.

What a terrible loss for Pr Bacevich and for all parents that have lost a son or daughter.

See you soon, Mardé

Thanks for your comment, Danielle. Yes, they've dug us into a very deep hole. They've had much good advice from lots of quarters but refuse to take it.

Just got back from seeing a great movie, "Live and Become" about an Ethiopean boy who survives and prospers against odds in Israel. It's a wonderful movie which I hope to put up a post on.

I've been thinking about the music meme, Danielle, and will get to it soon.

Sometimes thought provoking posts such as this scrambles all my sensibilities. What are we to do? Can we ever remedy the transgressions of this administration or is the hole too deep? I don't know what the best solution for Iraq would be but I KNOW that Bush, and Cheney CAN be impeached for their crimes.

I have avoided all things political for about a month but I must return to the muck just to try to sort this all out at least my opinions of it.

As always wishing you well.
