We’re lucky we have that great journalist, Bill Moyers, around. Here he’s interviewing two strong advocates of Single Payer, David Himmelstein, MD, co-founder of Physicians for a National Health Program, and Sidney Wolfe, MD, director of Public Citizen’s Health Research Group.
What chance in Hell does Single Payer have in this country?
I’ll answer my own question. It has NO CHANCE.
So what do we do? Stand with Dr. Dean and go all out for the Public Option. He explains this in the following:

This piece by Bernie Horn convinced me that Single Payer can’t work politically, and that our only option is the Public Option.
Right now, members of congress, including Olympia Snowe in the Senate are watering down the Public Option so that it will end up not being a Public Option. Read Paul Krugman on the Snowe “trigger”.
That’s why we’ve got to Stand with Dr. Dean. Sign his petition!

This is a very interesting debate, and the cartoon is right on the spot if you ask me!
From a foreign point of view, I’m having a hard time understand why Americans are against it, or rather why it is such a big deal. It also makes me laugh when I hear about the evil “socialized medicine” — I mean, what’s socialist in that? It’s common sense!
Every system has its pros and cons and I’m not saying it’s perfect but it seems it’s time to move forward and give it a try.

Thanks, Zhu. Yes, this country is so hung-up on the words “socialized medicine” it’s unbelievable. The fear of communism runs deep. The brain washing over the years and the insular status of so many Americans is to blame. It drives me crazy! You’re right. It’s just common sense. But the media and the powers that be see to it that the brain washing continues. The powers that be are of course ultimately to blame, as I sit here and many thousands of others, including doctor’s organizations, spin helplessly in the wind having no power against the powers that be. So freaking frustrating, let me tell you!
