Fidel’s brother, Raul Castro, is now taking over in Cuba. Here’s a picture of him giving the V-sign. Should I say GO BRO GO?
Raul and I were born in the same hospital in Preston, Oriente, Cuba in January of 1929. As I’ve mentioned to friends and family a number of times (perhaps too many times), he could be me and I could be him.
If he’s me, I hope I’m better looking than that. Anyway, c’mon Raul start liberalizing the place. Same goes for you, Barack. I’d like to visit again before I croak.

Trouble is, when I was there, even Fidel’s father was a capitalist. In fact the sons rebelled but I was too young to understand, being under one year of age at the time. Of course, if I’m really Fidel’s brother and he’s me, I would have been there through it all.

Marde’, I did not know your Cuban origins. Did you know I visited Cuba? I wrote several posts about it last summer. It was a highlight of my life. (You look way better than Raul. I think it likely he had a harder life.)

I’ll have to check out your Cuba posts, BE. Thanks for letting me know. It could be that Raul had a harder life than me, certainly a more dangerous one. Me? I’m a so-called depression baby and only child close to my mother who had Parkinson’s disease. I’ve got some of her early diary entries in this blog.
