Here if You Need Me

Here’s Kate Braestrup, the only combination Game Warden and UU minister that I know of, and to boot she’s from the Great State of Maine! Listen to her talk about her work and about God:

A totally inspiring lady. Here’s her book: Here If You Need Me: A True Story.

Thus are there no separations between the various spiritual traditions, for every genuine one teaches the same: that love is the moment of no-separation; and this is where god, Tao, Buddha, or the cosmic consciousness is discovered.

By the way, I’m back from the woods and posting again. But as I mentioned today at the blog, it took a certain effort to come back.

Glad you got back OK, Brian, but I can see your point! It’s getting clearer and clearer: there’s the inauthentic world out there getting larger and larger in its attempts to submerge and ward off encroachments from the authentic world.

And Yes! Thanks for that very well said first sentence above!

Thank you for this Marde, very nice. I like what she had to say–God is not in the accident so much as He is in the healing.

    Hi Mardé,
Thank you for sharing with us this incredible portrait of Kate Braestrup. Wow…
Kate is doing some very compassionate acts, and should be applauded for it.
I have had the chance to experience another type of compassion and caring, which was from the Hospice program for terminally ill pateients.
My Dad had cancer and survived on 2 years with the loving care of their nurses and even a Chaplain. They did a wonderful job; even took me up to the end.

I do feel like Kate; God is love, compassion and healing.
    You take care Mard.

Thank you for your comments, Missy and Barbara.

Yes, I agree too that God was not in the physical things that happened — e.g., why did God let this happen? — but in the non-physical things, the love and caring, the wonders and healing of it.

Thanks for sharing those experiences you had in the Hospice and with your Dad, Barbara. Yes, God is in the love.

Kate is such a comforting soul. I’d want her around in any crisis.

She came to our church a few times to give services a couple years ago. She invariably left many teary eyed and grateful. We tried to hire her as a minister but standard ministry wasn’t her game.

    Hi Marde,

I agree with you all….Could it be that God is a four letter word after all?

Could be. Would like to believe it.
