Well, not really headlights, just the red glow from my Cuddeback NOFlash infrared camera tirggered by the heat and motion of the deer. It’s the red glow that’s got the deer transfixed. The camera is screwed into the side of our garage and the deer’s about eight feet away. The time is off by two and one-half hours. Should be closer to 9:30pm, not 6:58pm. I’ve fixed that now. We’ll see what happens tonight.
UPDATE 12/12/2007: Here’s that doe again. Same one? This time apparently more at ease with the camera. Her nose looks cold….

Aw, cute! I just found today that my friend Ruthie and work actually FEEDS the deer in her back yard! She and her hubby like looking at them. 😆

Yes, the deer are everywhere in spite of expanded hunting season, i.e, shoot a deer, any deer (but just not in my backyard). 😀
Of course, feeding the deer, like feeding turkeys just encourages them. Pretty soon we’ll be overrun with animals! 😆

So cool ! I must sound like city folk 😆 You must see deer and other animals all the time.
I can’t over how reassured the doe looks from the second evening. She already understands how that works …
If we ever did that here in our yard, I reckon that the only things we may catch are starled cats crossing the garden, or an occasional hedgehog ! -

Yes, there are a lot of wild animals around here, many of course we don’t see. But the wild turkeys are something to behold! They’re scrawny and skittish but congregate in flocks of twenty or more, sometimes in the middle of the road, only to move out of the way at the last minute as a car approaches.
We don’t have hedgehogs yet in North America. The nearest thing to a hedgehog here might be a porcupine, which we have plenty of. I have some pictures of them. Maybe I’ll show them here, what the heck.

😆I took the camera in the house before the big storm. There’ve been no new deer tracks yet. Guess they’re hunkering down — for now — in the snow.
