Putin’s Buddies

Take a look at this photo of the Presidents’ row. Who would like to take on these guys? Not many smiles there? (Except maybe the tall guy on the left is suppressing one.)

Here are the names, right to left: Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Turkmenistan’s President Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.

Would the Turkmenistan’s leader mind being called Kurby Berdy for short? Rhymes with Herdy Gerdy. Noo, I doubt it. Would it be funny if it weren’t so serious?

    These are the presidents of the Caspian Sea states.
    I think they were meeting about oil pipelines and the presence of ships not from one of these 5 countries.

    Wait…I thought Putin wasn’t going to Iran because of a death threat or something? Who really knows anymore?

    Yes, those five countries can make a lot of money together. I was just reading somewhere that they have half the world’s natural gas reserves, or at least an enormous amount of it.

    I guess it would be tough to bump off Putin. I wouldn’t want to try it. (Think polonium 210?) Maybe it was a ruse. Who knows, as you say?

    Yes, I figured with a name like that the guy ought to be happy with just plain Kurby Burdy. It might even loosen him up a little, and get him to loosen the thumbscrews a little on his next torture victim? 😆

    Now there’s a line up for you. Already they are Oil producing nations, which is something powerful in itself.
    These oil producers sure know how to gets us all where they want you. Need one one side, greed and power on the other.
    And what do you think, lined up in front of the New Zealand all blacks, they wouldn’t last the Haka or the following assault(esp the little dude 😆

    Hi Barbara,

    Yes, I was trying to visualize them doing the Haka. It might be good for them. Work off the aggression. Then if we could throw Bush and Cheney into the mix, it sure would be frightening! Maybe if they all did it, we could stop the wars — although I doubt it.

    Adding Bush and Cheney would be awful especially with Bush telling us things like:
    “So I’ve told people that if you’re interested in avoiding World War III, it seems like you ought to be interested in preventing them from have the knowledge necessary to make a nuclear weapon. I take the threat of Iran with a nuclear weapon very seriously.”
    Is this his prediction?

    Thanks for your message, Kat. Yes, I was just joking about adding Bush and Cheney to the Haka dance. Maybe not a good joke.

    The statement you quote is totally whacko. Here’s what Juan Cole said about it this morning: [Bush] went a little crazy, talking about World War III if Iran gained the knowledge of how to produce a nuclear weapon.

    Here’s a good discussion, including comments, of Putin’s Trip to Tehran, and Juan Cole has a great analysis of the Iran Hawks.

    Yes, we well might ask, “Is it a prediction?”. I agree with your implication that it is dangerous warmongering on Bush’s part.

    The president’s warmongering has been going on for a long time. I believe it started in 2002 when he designated Iran as a member of the “axis of evil.”Bush seems to be trying to hasten the groundwork for military action against Iran.

    Yes, that’s right, Kat. He’s been warmongering from way back, including right after 9/11, according to Richard Clark. Yes, he and Cheney and the neocons have been laying the groundwork for military action against Iran for a long time. Let’s just hope they can be stopped.

    No, I haven’t seen that Free Hugs Campaign. I’ll have to check it out!
