The article in the NYT this morning, Americans Feel Military Is Best at Ending the War, will provide further proof to many people oversees (I’m an American) that Americans are warmongers. And they may be right, sad to say. Hey guys and gals World War 2 (WW2) is over, the wars since then have been largely disasters. Not that it’s necessarily the fault of the military, but we’ve never gotten over our glamorization of the military from WW2, in my opinion.
Look, this war in Iraq is a total disaster and we need to get out NOW! Check my previous post, Chaos Hawks, and also check Juan Cole this morning for the good news, NOT!, about Iraq. Forget Katie Couric, Ryan Crocker, General Petraeus, and most of all, George Bush.

I’am not against the men and women over there. I’am against the War. Period. I always have been since the start.
Yes, we are Americans ; still proud of our nationality, but not at all of our government that represents us.You take care.

Thanks, Barbara. Yes, it’s the young kids in our military over there that are bearing the brunt of this disaster, aside from the Iraqis who are bearing the greatest brunt. The leaders in the military, the higher up the chain of command you go, are increasingly political. And it’s the glamorization of them by the American people that helps to keep this thing going, in my view. Of course our civilian leaders started the war. Many in the military were against it, I think, but dared not say so.

A large spreaded “view” worldwide is that America love wars. Yet I have big doubts about that, this “idea” is heavyly supported by high officials, including – or specialy – US ones. Not directly, none wouldn`t say open americans love-want wars, they don`t wnt to loose them audience. But non-americans leaders may say it plain. Supported by US administration`s behave. Mean politicians, which actualy are similar worldwide. All is propaganda.
I really doubt average american want wars.

Oh yes, Valentin, I think you’re right: the average American doesn’t want wars. But I think we (Americans) are easily manipulated by irresponsible politicians and high officials. I think that’s what you are saying.
