You’re being conned, bamboozled, and lied to by George W. Bush, all his administration, Fox News, talk-radio, and much of the mainstream media! I’ve had enough of these lies! And yet, and yet, approval ratings for Bush are still in the low 40% range. They should be under 10%. Is the reason they’re so high because Americans crave a strong leader, a “man on horseback” as it were, who they can follow, prostrate themsleves before, and then have the illusion of being safe? Remember the Germans? Remember Adolf Hitler? Well, it could happen here, and I’m afraid it is happening here.

Now, who has courage enough to tell me I’m full of it, and provide facts to prove I’m wrong? Where are all my readers? lol :-) :-) :-)

Here’s a couple of youtube links NK sent me yesterday:

Keith Olbermann

Daily Show

And here’s one I found this morning:

Barack Obama

Here’s another one NK sent me:

Check em all out, if y’all haven’t seen them already. (I’m laboring under the illusion that I have a vast readership out there ready to make comments as fast as they can! lol :-( :-) )

ps. The full Clinton-Fox News encounter is available also on YouTube if you can find it.

OK, I went to YouTube and found the Fox News-Clinton interviews. Here they are:

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

Thanks for reading (or viewing) this far. Make a comment?? :-)

Ok, nobody’s made a comment yet, so I will. I found today that our represeantative Mike Michaud, a democrat, voted AYES for the torture bill in the US House. I just sent him a message on his website telling him that I was very disappointed in his vote. I’ll still have to vote for him, of course, because the nation desperately needs the democrats to take control of the House.

Want facts on why the torture bill is a bad bill? Here’s the New York Times editorial today: READ THIS

This “Quiz” was sent by the Rev. Eugene R. Widrick, retired minister from the UU church in Carlisle, MA, to his email group of which I’m a member.

    Quiz: Who said this?

    1. Today Christians … stand at the head of [this country]… I pledge that I never will tie myself to parties who want to destroy Christianity .. We want to fill our culture again with the Christian spirit … We want to burn out all the recent immoral developments in literature, in the theater, and in the press – in short, we want to burn out the *poison of immorality* which has entered into our whole life and culture as a result of *liberal excess* during the past … (few) years.

Sound familiar? I seem to hear this mantra every day from certain quarters.

    Scroll down for the answer…….

[The Speeches of Adolph Hitler, 1922-1939, Vol. 1 (London, Oxford University Press, 1942), pg. 871-872]

And some folks wonder why I get so upset….

Here’s something that I took from Josh Marshall who has the blog called Talking Points Memo: TPM. He often publishes what other people send him. This one is by a reader called BC, reprinted below:

    TPM Reader BC …

I can’t stand it any longer: This evening all the network news programs air Bush’s slam, “The party of FDR and Truman is now the party of cut and run”. There’s no democrat presenting any equivalent slam against Bush or the “torture” republicans. The other day Rice gets extensive air time to say, “We received no strategy regarding Al Queda from the Clinton administration” and there are no democrats, no Richard Clarke, no Clinton to rebut the allegation. The republicans are making hay in Congress with all their “war on terror” provisions regarding Habeas Corpus, torture, and warantless wiretaps- the “tools the president needs to fight the war on terror” and you have to watch C-Span to hear any democrats presenting a sensible argument against Bush’s “tools”.

Every day I read countless liberal blogs offering compelling confrontation to the lies and smears the republicans let fly in their constant barrage, yet none of this corrective dialogue is observable in the MSM. I guess my point is, do we fault the MSM for this mostly one-sided debate the average news consumer is exposed to, or are the democrats no-shows when it comes to aggressively getting “our side” presented in the daily discourse of the media? The liberal blogs are great with exposing truth, but they’re preaching to the choir while the republicans never let up in their campaign to control the greater public dialogue. (An analogy- a dem takes a girl out on a date, and he spends the evening asking about her while telling her about himself- a pleasant evening enjoying one another’s company. A repub takes a girl out, and he relentlessly paws at her, he continuously tries to undress her, and single-mindedly devotes the entire evening pursuing his libido-driven agenda, much to her dismay. Worn down, she eventually succumbs to his aggressions.)

Thanks for letting me cry on your shoulder a bit.

    Freedom in Iraq!

Here’s an example of the kind of “freedom” the press has in Iraq today:

Under a broad new set of laws criminalizing speech that ridicules the government or its officials, some resurrected verbatim from Saddam Hussein’s penal code, roughly a dozen Iraqi journalists have been charged with offending public officials in the past year.

Currently, three journalists for a small newspaper in southeastern Iraq are being tried here for articles last year that accused a provincial governor, local judges and police officials of corruption. The journalists are accused of violating Paragraph 226 of the penal code, which makes anyone who “publicly insults” the government or public officials subject to up to seven years in prison.

This is taken from an article in today’s New York Times: LINK

I just got through reading four articles, provided by Eric Alterman on his BLOG, on the new detainee bill passed by Congress and backed by Bush. They are well worth reading and cover most of the issues. To read them go HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE. A lot of work, I know, but one must try to see all sides of the issues, if one can. Can one? Let’s hope. :-) The fourth article has as its byline the following: Congress may give the president the power to lock up almost anyone he thinks is a terror threat. :-(

Nothing on Foley and Hastert yet?

    Come on,

  7. Mardy’s avatar

Jah, I’m falling behind already! So much news, I can’t keep up with it! “State of Denial” too, from Bob Woodword! And Condi can’t remember! Fordham says Hastert was told about it last year if not before. They thought they could dump it all on Fordham. Well, he’s getting back! And over 20 US Soldiers get killed in last few days? What’s going on?? Yet the Amish are forgiving the murderer and his family.

How can I blog all this? Hey, NK, you’re getting to be more than half my readership!!

  8. Mardy’s avatar

Oh, I forgot, North Korea’s got the bomb and wants to test it. We’re lucky China is paying attention.

Don’t tell anybody, but I bot some CITGO gas today. And I didn’t even smell sulfur! (Get that one?)

Finally, is the world going to Hell in a wheelbarrow? lol :-)

    I gotta go,

  9. NK’s avatar

Meanwhile the Dow is hitting one record after another. Gas is getting cheaper by the day. W is saying the Dem. are soft on terrorism…

    What else is new?

3 more weeks till D day. Is it going to be any different this time around?

  10. Mardy’s avatar

Jah, NK, the fact that gas is getting cheaper of course plays into the Bush hand. (Hey, ERF will rise again! In the meantime, collect the cash. BAH?) The only other card they have is the “cut and run” mantra. But to counter that, things get worse there every day. However, Karl the Rove may yet have an October surprise for us. Well, it’s not over til the Fat Lady Sings !!

  11. NK’s avatar

Could the surprise be someone in a jail somewhere waiting to be ‘aprehended’ a couple of days before the election??

Whatever happened to your trek down south?

  12. Mardy’s avatar

Like Osama, say? Well, if they were lucky enough of capture him. Zawahiri would work too. If they could capture him.

Or, they wouldn’t have to actually capture one of them, just plant the story and then let it die after the election. Rove could do that.

Well, I haven’t had an invitation to her Fall International Pot Luck and/or Steve Porter recital or whatever yet.

To me, Friday is just like any other day.

I sat for four hours, 5pm to 9pm, by myself over at the Oxford County Democrats booth at the Fryeburg Fair yesterday. Only one negative and lots of positive comments, many bought bumper stickers even! It was kind of fun but got cold as hell toward 9pm.

    I gotta go,
